Frequently Asked Questions
Fire Extinguishers along with other Fire Equipment are required to be serviced every 6 months in South Australia.
Some items may require to be tested more frequently, such as Fire Alarm Panels. It's imporant that you speak with us to ensure that your equipment is being tested when it is supposed to be.
Exit and Emergency Lights must have an inspection and a 90-minute discharge (power fail test) every 6 months.
The discharge component of this inspection is to ensure that the battery back up works correctly for the 90 minutes, as required by Australian Standards.
Generally, as Fire Extinguishers are also required to be tested every 6 months, it can be more economical for your Fire Protection company to complete both the Exit & Emergency Light Inspection and the Fire Equipment Service at the same time.
Some sites, depending on the type and size of building, may also require Monthly visual Exit & Emergency Light inspections.
Yes, however, if your recent services were completed by a different company or have not been completed at all, we may need to attend your site to conduct an inspection or service before signing this.
Australian Standard 3745 requires all facilities in Australia to have Evacuation Diagrams as part of their Emergency Plan. These Evacuation Diagrams should be displayed in places that are visible to all occupants.
Evacuation Diagrams are required to be updated every 5 years.
